Please help i got real long hair and nappy hair need hair types?

Please help i got real long hair and nappy hair and i need hair tips my hair is always in a pony tail and to add on to it my hair is dry and short in the front so i use bobby pins to keep it from coming out but it comes out anyway and when i get my hair done i get it straighten and it only last for about 3 weeks and i get purmes but it do not work. I want my hair to be smooth and not dry all the time i want to wear my hair out for a chance and not a nappy pony tail with hair sticking out please help me i need hair types i don't want to be talk about in high school.
