Questions about nappy hair?

Well, in that picture, it looks like his hair is just blown out a little bit with a blow dryer. Um...not a flattering picture, BTW. Black hair usually grows about a half an inch or so every 30-45 days. But it does not produce oils, like other ethnicity's do, so it curls up tighter and seems more dry. If you are looking to grow it long, I suggest corn rows or some other form of braids. It's a good neutral "resting position" for black hair, that allows it to grow faster, with less interruptions from you, since you aren't brushing it and styling it every day. Redo the braids once a week or so. Since your head doesn't get oily, once a week is plenty for washing your hair if you aren't doing strenuous work that makes you sweat a lot.

Also, to keep your hair soft, so it doesn't break off a lot, use a Good non oily conditioner for your hair and scalp, that will be absorbed, as opposed to hair grease, that just sits on top of the hair and skin. Carrot oil (available at beauty stores and in most large supermarket's beauty isles) is a really great one. Its light and smells good.

IA Vix, except Black scalps DO produce oil/sebum, it just harder for it to fully reach the hair due to coils. How tightly hair curls has nothing to do with how much oil you produce, but with how 閳ユ競ent閳?a hair follicle is. Curly hair looks drier since coils reflect less light.
