Why do people in your family bother you about your hair being natural?

Everytime I wanna wear my hair natural or pressed by pressing comb, someone in my family gotta bother and pess me about getting a relaxer. I used to use one, but now I wanted to keep it pressed because it grew faster. It's like a black woman gotta get their hair straight in order to fit in with other races. Its soo sad when you wanna wear your hair natural, its sooo ugly and nappy and when wear your hair relaxed, its more acceptable. I mean we were not born with straight hair! Why can't we just accept our hair like we wore it in the 70's when 'fros were more popular and big and not be like someone else?

it's sad to say but black people have more of a problem with blacks having natural hair than any other race. they feel as though it is unkept or something. my family doesn't have a problem with my hair because i've always been the free spirited one so that just learn to accept things with me; however, other blacks have a problem with it. They say i need to get my hair done or something, or make comments like "i like your hair" then snicker. I just say that they are small minded and brain washed so i really don't care what they think. I LOVE MY HAIR!!

Forget em'! Just wear it how YOU want to wear it and they are the ones that are going to end up with damage in their hair. Grow it out for as long as you want and then relax it, and it would be really cool to have it to your shoulders one year, and then the next year have it about 6 inches longer. It's a really big surprise :) Where it like you want and whatever makes you feel best. Let them say what they want. After a while of doing it how you want, they will give up on nagging you about it and get bored and find something else to talk about.

Girl, you need to do what U want to do with your hair!! If you're comfortable with your hair, you feel good about yourself and carry yourself better....... Be your own person and not a follower!! I loved the fro's on blacks and whites!! And fro's are coming back in New Jersey!

Don't let anyone tell you how to wear your hair, its yours you can do what you want with it. Tell others to piss off. I think you should leave it curly, you can wear cute headbands (seriously sometimes i curl my hair, like little ringlets and but in a headband, its looks VERY cute!)

I hope you can be an individual and do what you want instead of going with trying to change what is beautiful to begin with. I think relaxed hair is too dirty, please excuse me if i offend anyone but i think that for what I've seen on the streets.

Don't worry about what others say. I recently went natural, but before I did, all of my friend were against it. They told me not to do it and it wasn't gonna be cute. I didn't listen to any of that. I get compliments on my hair now. They also give me props for being my own person and not letting other peoples opinions afftect me.
