You're probably using low quality hair. You should try to get some Virgin Remy Indian hair from online like.

www.wagmanprimus.com

www.indianhairs.com

The beauty supply hair is usually low quality and from several different donors, that causes the hair to tangle and matt. If you wear weave, check out this site.

Also you can look at this girl's hair album: http://public.fotki.com/amandita-bhm/hai...

I'm sure she can answer some of your weave questions.

Hope this helps:

What race do you most associate with "nappy" hair?

Does a particular race come to mind when you hear the word nappy?

What race do you most associate with "nappy" hair?

What race do you most associate with "nappy" hair?

What the heck Is " Nappy hair"? What comes to mind when you say nappy Is, what I put on my childrens bum when they were babies.

What race do you most associate with "nappy" hair?

unfortunately I think of african american people.

What race do you most associate with "nappy" hair?

I had never heard it until Imus. Maybe it was something said more often in the 50's, 60's, 70's.

What race do you most associate with "nappy" hair?

BORRRRING..... Will we soon be done with all this crap?

What race do you most associate with "nappy" hair?

I totally think about those little white boys with so much grease in their hair, I could do 3 maybe 4 oil changes with them... (and in trying to be a racist, you really should rethink your comments on this one.) Did you know the FBI monitors the Internet for Hate Mongers? Just a warning is all. IP addresses are very easy to track.

oooh wait.. hmmm noo race.. that would probably be the 100m dash.. or is it more of an endurance thing? Maybe a 5k? seriously, 'tard

What race do you most associate with "nappy" hair?

africans. yep , i don't mind being nappy.

What race do you most associate with "nappy" hair?

Blonde-haired, blue-eyed, white "Valley girls" have *mall hair*.

What's your point?

What race do you most associate with "nappy" hair?

Very sleepy people. I've been part of the sleepy race for quite some time and no matter what I do, my hair always seems to look like I've just awoken from a nap.

What race do you most associate with "nappy" hair?

Blacks.

What race do you most associate with "nappy" hair?

When will you people let stuff go? Nappy this, nappy that. Lame!

What race do you most associate with "nappy" hair?

Of course Black People. But check it out! It's nothing wrong with having coarse or kinky hair. See people of all races can have that type of hair. It's the word "nappy" that's bad not the hair.

What race do you most associate with "nappy" hair?

Black people. Aborigines. Not rude, just a fact.

What race do you most associate with "nappy" hair?

Black People

Black People

or

Black People

What race do you most associate with "nappy" hair?

There is no such thing as nappy hair. Nappy is a word that was made up in Slavery to put Black people down. our hair is curly not nappy

What race do you most associate with "nappy" hair?

Nappy is another derogatory word created to dehumanize black people during slavery in America. Our hair is tightly curled or kinky and it's nothing wrong with it.

What race do you most associate with "nappy" hair?

Talking about beating a dead horse...Well, they say black. But I have thick wavy hair naturally, so doesnt that tell you that it is just a stereotype. C'mon now, let it die man, it is done and over with.

What race do you most associate with "nappy" hair?

nappy is such a funny word.

What race do you most associate with "nappy" hair?

The seventh race at Del Mar...

A great little filly named Ho Nappy won me $46 on a $2 bet.

Yes, she was some Hoey Napster in that race.

Hair was nice, black, and soft until I hit puberty. Now it's dry, brittle, and I hate it. Why?

When I was younger I had the regular hispanic hair. Black, long, soft. I noticed when I hit puberty it started becoming nappy, curly, and brittle. I did dye my hair a lot but so much time has passed that new hair has come out. But it still comes out nasty. My scalp does flake, a lot. So is it that causing my hair to be gross? It feels good in certain spots but on the bangs its jacked up. Head and shoulders doesn't work, I even tried tgel. HELP

Hair was nice, black, and soft until I hit puberty. Now it's dry, brittle, and I hate it. Why?

when i hit puberty

we got these pamflit type things from our school

it explained everything that would happen;

and it also included hair care;

it said you have to shower more often and wash your hair more frequently

you have to wash your hair from root to tip.

and message it into your scalp;

a good brand for that is Garnier.

thanks for taking my advise if you did.

that's all i konw so far;

Hair was nice, black, and soft until I hit puberty. Now it's dry, brittle, and I hate it. Why?

you could have thyroid problems. Your thyroid gland is in your neck and regulates hormones as you develop. when your thyroid isnt functioning properly a side effect will be kinky and coarse hair, and you will start noticing the effects around the time you mature or the ending of puberty. i suggest you go to the drs and get checked for that, just to be safe...

Hair was nice, black, and soft until I hit puberty. Now it's dry, brittle, and I hate it. Why?

When I hit puberty my hair got really puffy when i got 2 the sun and i washed it like 2 or 3 times a day but it didnt work i got hightlights to try to make it better but it didnt so now i dont put anything in my hair like i use to dont worry its normal it happens

I want kinky and nappy hair help please?

i got a perm 4 months ago but

i want it out fast as i can any 1 plz

give me they stratergy on how to

get rid of the perm or make my hair

nappy and kinky again i want my natural

hair back plz ill do anything please....but not cutting

it off

I want kinky and nappy hair help please?

you cannot reverse a relaxer. you will eventually have to cut of all of that relaxed hair. relaxers are a chemical process. do not try to undo it unless you want to be bald.

I want kinky and nappy hair help please?

TIME... The perm will have to grow out, and yes you will have to cut the permed ends off. You may want to try braids, twist, or straw sets to help you grow the permed ends off until your natural hair has grown out to a comfortable length for you to ut off those permed ends. Hair (no matter what race you are) grows about 1/2 an inch a month. as long as you focus on maintaining healthy hair, your natural hair will be back before you know it. I cut off all my hair 2.5 years ago, and now my hair is halfway down my back.

How to get hair like this (pics included)?

I get relaxers so i have regular straight hair like u see most black people. But how do i get hair like this its extremely curly. My natural hair is slighty wavy and definetly not nappy but its not like this. Is it possible to get this.

How to get hair like this (pics included)?

that looks like my hair, but im nat. curly. and actually hate curly hair, and am going to straighten it. its always somewhat frizzy. I say stop getting relaxers. Ull never be able to get those curls if u relax it. Her hair was probably professionally done. You should set up a consultation with a really good hairdresser in your neighborhood.

How to get hair like this (pics included)?

It's a perm, just go to any salon and they'll do it

How to get hair like this (pics included)?

First u'll have to let ur hair grow... Then u buy a curling iron and some strong holding gel...

How can I repair my hair?

I had long silky hair past my knees, but i could never fix it like i wanted to. So, in the past 2 years I've had 3 perms. (stupid, i know!) Now, my hair is up above my butt and nappy looking. The part on my scalp gets very oily soon after washing and now that the perm there has fell out, it is much like before. But the whole bottom past my scalp is coarse and frizzy looking. It looks good when I have it gelled, but I miss the length so bad. I have never cut my hair even when i got the perms and i don't intend to ever cut it. So, besides cutting it, what can i do to restore it to the silky long hair i had before?

How can I repair my hair?

Go to a salon. Sad to say, but the damage might be severe enough that cutting it my be the only recourse. Otherwise, it might just be a matter of time before it all breaks off anyway. The only one who can tell you for sure is a hairdresser. If it isn't too damaged, they may be able to give it some intensive treatments to improve it. Been there and did that also!

How can I repair my hair?

I for one would never have my hair below my knees. But if that is how you like it, Use mayo to re-build your hair, the protein will do wonders. Do not over do this. Use vinegar to make it shine. Go to a good salon and get a product called CHI that will work also.

How can I repair my hair?

condtioners, lots of conditioning. try natural oils, like jojoba, olive, etc.

How can I repair my hair?

You should try a hot oil treatment...I never have, but people tell me all the time that they work well. Like the V05 kind they say is the best.

How can I repair my hair?

a shampoo can fix it easily do reaserch im 13 and i no wat u mean

How can I repair my hair?

When I was young, we used a vinegar rinse to cut the oil, then... believe it or not, an egg to add the shine back... hope this helps!

How can I repair my hair?

hot oil treatments will repair your hair and help the frizz

How can I repair my hair?

avocato oil helps too, its reallu good for rebuilding and smoothing hair AND skin

How can I repair my hair?

try biotin or prenatal pills....they help hair grow- try putting olive oil on the ends to help the dry frizzy stuff- most products on the market for that kind of thing actually have alcohol in them- so avoid that- it'll just dry your hair out more.....good luck!

How can I repair my hair?

This sounds funny, but it works. Go buy a jar of mayonnaise. Make sure you get mayonnaise because miracle whip wont work. Put the mayonnaise all throughout your hair. Just like you would hair dye or conditioner. Mayonnaise is basically all fat. So when you get it all in your hair wrap your hair with plastic wrap. This heats the fat in the mayonnaise with your own body heat to break down the lipids. Leave it on for about 10 minutes and rinse. It works for everone, but it sounds like you will need alot of mayonnaise for how long your hair is.

How can I repair my hair?

hopefully, there will be some hair experts that will answer this question. you will probubly have to go to a beuty parlor [ya, i know i did'nt spell that right]. i have a problem with mine too, always itching, but no dandruff. the only thing i could say is, cut it,sorry,susyq47

How can I repair my hair?

Definitly (sp?)tons of Vitamin E and protein. Don't OVER do it though.

How can I repair my hair?

Hello. I usually go to Sally's store and buy hot hair treatments. I use Placenta hot oil treatment.

Also, I use Biosilk silk therapy. Most salons sells and uses them for their clients. It is great and it smells great. :)

How can I repair my hair?

it doesn't t matter what you do, nothing can actually undo the damage caused by chemical processes, unlike the roots of your hair, the hair above the scalp is very sensitive to chemicals used in perms, colors and even diet and type of water washed in....some products claim to correct damage, but actually do not, damage may be minimized or smoothed, but the damage will be there still, regular trims and or cutting of the hair is the only remedy..it will in time grow back out (if you stay away from chemical processes.

How can I repair my hair?

Use lots of deep conditioning. This only needs to be done once a week. The one that I like best is Fructis 3 minute masque. Since your hair is "nappy" like you say, i would leave it on longer. Maybe about10-20minutes. The best thing to do is take a towel and soak it in hot water. Get your hair wet and washed, and put the conditioner on your hair. Then wring out the towel to get excess water out, and wrap your hair with it. The steam from the water helps to penetrate the conditioner into your hair. I used to have problems with my hair during the summer, till a friend told me about the towel thing. Now i use the fructis about 2 times a month, and my hair is fine. Hopefully this will work. Also vitamin E is good for you too..

How can you make nappy hair into a afro-textured hair?

Like if you have nappy/kinky/wavy hair, does anyone know something that can make it look like Afro-textured hair????Like make your hair afro-textured hair???

How can you make nappy hair into a afro-textured hair?

Okay once upon a time before my locks. Wash and condition your hair. Moisturize and pick up a good setting lotion. You will need to put your hair in curlers while wet with the setting lotion. The smaller the curler the tighter the curl. use small equal parts. Use end paper to prevent your ends from frizzing and most important. The hair must dry completly on the curlers. If you take the curlers out before your hair is bone dry or else you will have a hot mess. When you do take the curlers out your hair gently use your hands and fingers to loosen the curl and shape your fro. Products you can use that may help keep your fro include mousse, and hairspray.

How can you make nappy hair into a afro-textured hair?

You should try using some type or hair moisterizer

How to relax the kink in VERY NATURAL African American hair without a relaxer?

Hello All,

I have very very kinky/curly/nappy (whatever you want to call it) hair. A true Afro. the curls/kinks are about 1/8in diameter. the type that, when its in its natural state and is wet doesn't look it.

well, i am looking for a product that is NOT a relaxer or a texturizer, and can soften m

y natural curl pattern. something that can just make it more manageable to comb through.

anything come to mind????

i've read about just for me texture softener, but has anyone with my grade of hair tried the product?

Thank you!

How to relax the kink in VERY NATURAL African American hair without a relaxer?

There's an all natural product called carmel made by Etae that will soften natural hair to the point that it will come out straight when combined with a blowout and flat iron, or if you're feeling creative check out blackhairmedia.com discussion forum and do a search on carmel and a lot of ladies there have had success with homemade versions. If you decide not to use any heat it acts as a great moisturizing conditioner and softly loosens curls.

try motions products i have afro hair too and it works for me.

How to relax the kink in VERY NATURAL African American hair without a relaxer?

If you don't want to use chemicals stay away from the Just For Me Texture Softener. It's just a texturizer for kids. There is a product called curlaway made by xenna. It is 100% natural the only thing is you have to use it multiple times to get the results you want. You can get it at Walgreens and www.xenna.com.

I have curly/frizzy/nappy hair, I want it straight; How?

Okay my all time dream is to have straight black hair with bangs going over my left eye. %26amp;I want them permanently straightened. Is that possible (without damaging my hair)? I also want my hair thinned out, because when I wash it, it gets extremely frizzy %26amp; nappy. Btw, I'm African American/White. When I DO 'flat iron' my hair... I do it with a straightening comb. But when I do, the heat draws up %26amp;later my hair is puffy. I don't want that! I want to walk out into the misty air with straight hair. Gosh, I seriously need advice. If you know a stylist in LA, near 90660-90302 and/or you can list great examples of conditioners;relaxers;%26amp;Straightening irons. Plus I have graduation coming soon reply back. Please %26amp;Thanks.

A style of bangs I would like:

Please give detail.

I have curly/frizzy/nappy hair, I want it straight; How?

You can chemically straighten your hair, but one piece of advice is to make sure that this is really what you want. After this process there is no turning back, but if you straighten your hair every day it would be worth it.

You really can't do chemical treatments on your hair without a little damage. My best suggestion to you is to find a salon in your area that uses opti smooth by matrix. It is one of the best chemical straighteners I have found. Another bonus to this straightener is that it leaves the hair soft and silky after the treatment with minimal damage. Unlike some other straightener I have used that leave the hair feeling dry, Brittle and in need of deep conditioning treatments. This is one of the more expensive permanent straighteners, but like I tell everyone when it comes to your hair you get what you pay for. Good Luck!!!

I have curly/frizzy/nappy hair, I want it straight; How?

i`m half black %26amp; half white.

my hair isn`t nappy but it was really curly.

%26amp; i got a texturizer.

you should get one.

it makes your hair more manageable and easy to straighten.

as for the bangs you need to take a picture to a salon and ask them to do it for you.

i have those bangs.

i just showed my stylist a picture.

good luck %26amp; hope i helped =]]

I have curly/frizzy/nappy hair, I want it straight; How?

get it permanently straightened. :).

I have curly/frizzy/nappy hair, I want it straight; How?

I'm white, so I'm not sure if this will work on african american hair, but I use conditioner and mix some honey in with it when I wash my hair. You rinse it out and it doesn't leave your hair sticky or anything, but it makes your hair cuticles lay down, so there's less frizz. Honey, it works for me EVERYTIME! Plus, investing in a high end flat iron, like a CHI is WELL worth the money....plus they last forever if you take care of them. CHI is all I use....I will never go back to using a regular flat iron again....I highly recommend it.

I have curly/frizzy/nappy hair, I want it straight; How?

Here are a few hair sites that offer great advice for growing healthy and long hair. blackhairmedia.com my favorite and longhaircare. You may find the answer to your hair problems. Be careful with the heat it can damage your hair.

I have curly/frizzy/nappy hair, I want it straight; How?

see if a hairdresser would suggest a relaxer.

I have curly/frizzy/nappy hair, I want it straight; How?

You should go to a salon and get your hair relaxed and ask them for the flat iron or straightening comb they recommend you use. I ask my salon hair stylist what is a good flat iron I can use for everyday great hair styles and she said to get Andes Ceramic flat iron you can get at your local walmart or store that sells hair products.

I have curly/frizzy/nappy hair, I want it straight; How?

Wow. Thats all the things I EXACTLY want to do to my hair.

Perm Straightened

Thinned

And Side Bangs

Dont you just admire those peoples hair who are like so straight and shiny..

gees,

you can go to a salon and get a *relaxer* or a *perm straigthen* they cost a lot though and they damadge the hair.

But I say, Do whatever makes you happy =)

If you really want to straighten you're hair( I know I am and I am getting all those things done for my grade 8 graduation) go for it. They are pretty costly. They also have Japanese hair straigthen techniques where they straighten it REALLY well and also deep condition if you want which makes if shiny and really nice.

Check this link out as well: http://www.magicyellow.com/category/Japa...

Hope I helped =)

I have curly/frizzy/nappy hair, I want it straight; How?

if u want straight hair then u are going to damage either way. i know a girl who straightens er hair every day and now her hair is all split ends.

if your born with curly hair then its going to be really hard to get it straight. u try herbal essences starightining shampoo and straghten your hair after.

I have curly/frizzy/nappy hair, I want it straight; How?

I have those bangs , and I love them .

Anywhoo , go to a shop , get a relaxer . Then , when they clip your ends , tell them that you want bangs , and show them a pic . Or , if there is an Egyptian beauty shop near you , go to them . A good affordable flat iron for black hair is Gold n Hot

I have curly/frizzy/nappy hair, I want it straight; How?

Hi. I think you should use a straightener. Its an appliance like a curling iron, but it has flat plates. There are different ones ranging from cheap to expensive. The one I have is from Conair. Its a curling iron/straightener in one and has setting from 1-25 and turbo(really hot). I only use it for special occasions, which is like 3-4x/year (that one's good in my opinion). I keep hearing Chi is good too, but since its expensive and I rarely straighten my hair, I'd be wasting my money since it will be collecting dust!

If you permanently straighten hair, remember its a chemical. Most people I've known with chemical perms and straighteners have always had problems due to hair breakage, loss, thinning and traction alopecia. So if you really want my opinion, those arent good in the short or long run. I dont know if you really want your hair thinned out because most would kill for thick hair, trust me. You gotta appreciate your hair or else you will always be in bondage with it.

I can give you tips and websites for your hair type. Go to www.motowngirl.com for natural hair care and www.growafrohairlong.com for the crown and glory technique. There's a shampoo method that has tamed my frizzies and hair. I'll give you the short version. When washing hair, first put into some big loose braids. Apply clarifying shampoo only to scalp or hair will feel very dry (only shampoo 1x/week). Massage scalp and rinse out, but DONT MANIPULATE YOUR HAIR AGGRESSIVELY! Squeeze braids if shampoo gets on it. When applying conditioner, take 1 braid down, apply it and smooth until tangles come out (or you can use a wide tooth comb, I dont). Braid back, do to all other braids. Wash out by squeezing braids. You could leave a little bit of conditioner for that soft feel.

When drying hair, DONT USE A TOWEL! It'll cause frizzies and tangles. Squeeze out some water, but still leave wet. Apply an ample amount of moisturizing cream to hair (I use whipped cream from curls.biz) and braid back. Do same thing to other braids and braid back. You can spray a leave-in conditioner in your hair to moisturize more. Let air dry. You could take it out and leave it, straighten it, style it. When I straightened it, this is what I did. It was more managable.

I use products with less chems/none designed for curly hair, but straight can use also. Here are list of websites.

www.curls.biz - I use their whipped cream, curls milkshake, hair ecstasy deep conditioner, quenched curls moisturizer. I have their euphoria elixir for hair straightening.

www.qhemetbiologics.com - used their sidr butter balm to moisturize hair when dry

www.honeyfig.com

www.blendedbeauty.com

www.kinky-curly.com

www.janecartersolution.com

www.longlovelylocks.com

www.gnc.com - shampoos %26amp; conditioners

www.vitaminshoppe.com - natural hair shampoos %26amp; conditioners

www.naani.com

www.aubreyorganics.com

www.sistasplace.com

These are the ones I know. When straightening, get a heat protectant that will give your hair a nice shine too. You also need a good deep conditioner to use w/heat to deep condition hair. Do this 1x/wk or 1x per 2 weeks, whatever you prefer. Dont straighten your hair everyday or often. You WILL be sorry when the damage is done.

Hope this helps you. God bless.

one of my friends is hispanic and has curly hair, but when she straightens it it looks just like that.

my hair is half way curly-half way nappy so if you could PLEASE tell me what products to use i would be soooo greatful

(ps. price doesn't matter, and if it helps i live where the humidity is very high)

How do I get my hair..........?

If you dont like your curly hair you can buy a ceramic hair straightener which will make your hair pin thin and shiny

http://www.beautyexpress.ca/item783.htm

(this is the best straightener I have ever used)

Or if you want your hair to be permanently straight, get it chemically straightened but I wouldnt recommend it since Im sure you want to wear it curly sometimes. Chemically straightening your hair can really damage it

How do I get my hair..........?

Paul Mitchell sells a heat spray that is also humidity resistant. You need heat protection anyway. Also use Paul Mitchell's Gloss Drops and flat iron it. You will be amazed. Good luck!

Texturizing nappy hair?

What would a texturizer look like if applied to natural nappy (African) hair? I have a lot of hair and it's impossible to deal with. I don't want bone straight hair, just something that I can maintain and braid by itself.

Texturizing nappy hair?

hhmmm.......

i dont know if we are thinking of the same thing or not, but my mother puts a texturizer in her hair every 6-8 weeks.

what it does for her is it enhances her natural curl, making it look "curly" and not "nappy." does that make sense?

but i dont know what effect it would have on 100% african american hair. my mother is 75% african american, so maybe it would have a similiar effect for you.

what you could do is go to one of your local hair salons for a consultation, to see what a proffesional has to say before you make any decisions!

good luck!

Texturizing nappy hair?

ohhh i want one. i have never heard of a texturizer, is it like a perm or realxer?? cause i have had those. what does a texturizer do?

Texturizing nappy hair?

Sometimes a texturizer can cause the hair to be very dry and break. Be careful.

Here check this out maybe you can learn to manage your hair without a texturizer.

Why do Black women have a problem with nappy hair?

The Black ladies that I know who choose to wear their hair nappy/natural get no respect from Black ladies who choose to patronize the beauty shop regularly for the perms, weaves and braids. Black women themselves think nappy/natural hair is unattractive. If they didn't, they wouldn't invest so much into altering it, would they? Why are they so offended by Imus saying "nappy headed"? They seem to have more of a problem with the"nappy" part than the"hoes" part. They would rather die than to be seen with their natural hair. They think those crazy, overstyled, extension hair-dos look better than their own hair. Perhaps this is where Imus got the idea to use "nappy" as a negative.

Why do Black women have a problem with nappy hair?

hmmm I like natural hair and relaxed hair, I was natural , now I am relaxed and thinking about going natural again. I don't have a problem with it I think natural hair is beautiful

Why do Black women have a problem with nappy hair?

They think he was teasing them and referring to their hair as ugly. Heck, he DID say "Nappy headed" and "hos" in the same sentence as if they were somehow related.

I do agree that black women need to love their hair and stop ruining it. I'm going back to my natural hair soon because I'm sick of this straightening. It's expensive and damaging and I don't know why anyone does it anymore!

Why do Black women have a problem with nappy hair?

who knows and who the hell cares.

I have kinky/nappy hair and need to know what hair straightener to use?

I'm of african and panamain desecent so i have really kinky nappy hair, not to long ago i got relaxer done at a hiar salon, but i washed my hair a couple of days ago and my hair is not as straight as it was. I was wondering where i could buy a really good straighting iron for my hair.

I have kinky/nappy hair and need to know what hair straightener to use?

Girl, if there is anything that'll make u happy is the curlmaster flatirton. Im trying to find it online now. Im African American, but I use a relaxer. THe curlmaster makes your hair look like you just got a perm. DO NOT USE GOLD N HOT!! Im not sure about the CHI, I heard good reviews about it, but never tried it. The curlmaster is great though, make sure you moisturize ur hair before using it and condition your hair. Good relaxers to use if u ever decide are, Optimum, Dudley, and Dr. Miracle. Living in NY i was used to going to Dominican hair salons, where they make ur hair look like u were puertorican or something, after I moved I had to start taking care of my own hair, and Im telling u what the solution is from a girl with nappy hair herself. I mean so nappy where I can break a comb or 2. USE CURLMASTER!

I have kinky/nappy hair and need to know what hair straightener to use?

One that gets REALLY hot

I have kinky/nappy hair and need to know what hair straightener to use?

a ceramic strraightener, and no, ignore emily or wvt, not a really hot one, cause that will damage the hair. too hot is bad

I have kinky/nappy hair and need to know what hair straightener to use?

go to sallys. the curlmaster with the ceramic plates. they run about 40-50 if i can remember correctly.

make sure that it has the dial on it, so that you can move the dial up and make it as hot as you want.

also make sure that you do small sections of your hair to get it the straightest as possible.

ALSO: My friend who is half African American and Half White bought the Gold and Hot and its horrible! It broke very easily and isnt worth it. Most of the cheaper Flat Irons do not work very well. Just a little FYI.

I have kinky/nappy hair and need to know what hair straightener to use?

chi ceramic straighter

I have kinky/nappy hair and need to know what hair straightener to use?

a ceramic straightener at sally's theryr aboy $45ish and they work great my hair get like that too but wen im done its smooth and glossy. also try to get one with a dial on it so that its not too hot or what ever. this way its just the way you want it and it wont damge your hair

I have kinky/nappy hair and need to know what hair straightener to use?

When shampooing your hair remember to use conditioning shampoos formulated for BLACK hair..like CREME OF NATURE . Creamy shampoos NOT clear get types. They contain alcohol and strip the straightner from your hair. That's why it started to frizz..Use conditioners!! Toss the cheap shampoos.

I have kinky/nappy hair and need to know what hair straightener to use?

Well Gold N Hot will be a quick pick because they are specialized for african american hair and reasonable they range from 20-50 dollars but I use the CHI iron it makes my hair look like I just got a relaxer it comes with a price tag of about 89 dollars

I have kinky/nappy hair and need to know what hair straightener to use?

As far as shampoos goes I highly recommend Joico Silk Results for coarse/thick hair, I use that shampoo and conditioner on my little girl because regular detangling shampoos and conditioners do not work on her hair, with the Joico Silk Results I can actually get my fingers through her hair. With the straightening irons go to a beauty supply or to a salon to get a high quality one, but stay away from the wet/dry ones because they can make the hair frizz up more.

I have kinky/nappy hair and need to know what hair straightener to use?

I'm half african american (AA)and also have natural kinky nappy hair. I have a relaxer and I use the CHI ceramic flat iron (ceramic is less damaging to the hair). I wash my hair once a week with Aveda Brilliant Shampoo and conditioner. I then apply the Damage Remedy Intensive Treatment Therapy to my hair for 5 minutes. After I wash that out I pour a dime size of CHI silk infusion in my hand and put that all in my hair. I blow dry it and brush it out with a comb to kinda get it straight. After that I apply more CHI silk infusion (this stuff is not greasy) and put another dime size in my hair. I use the Aveda Brilliant Damage Control and Isoplus Oil Sheen Hair Spray to spray my strands of hair right before using the CHI flat iron. As you use the CHI flat iron, turn it like a curling iron for that silky curled tip. It comes out really nice. After I am all done straightening my hair I spray some Aveda Brilliant Shine and wha-laaa.... it looks like I came from the salon. Because you have a relaxer, you have to protect your hair from all that heat (flat iron and blow dryer). So, spray your hair to protect it before you jack it up. I learned the hard way in the past.

For grease on your scalp when it gets dry try the Aveda Brilliant Anti-Humectant Pomade. Also you can try Farouk Biosilk Silk Therapy for a nice shine. Like the CHI Silk infusion, you just put a dime size amount in your hair and it leaves it shiny, non greasy and healthy for the mid week. Works for me and my lil sis, who is all AA.

Gold N Hot products is carted to black hair. Put some grease on your hair before straighten your hair. You should look into different hair products that is suppose to help soften your. That may help with the nappy. Try a deep conditioner after washing your hair. Sit up under a heating cap or dryer with the conditioner after washing it. Try Motion CPR if you can find it. It works for me.

I have kinky/nappy hair and need to know what hair straightener to use?

Don't use a iron on relax hair. You will damage your hair. Go back to the salon, and have them correct the problem. Your hair is so suppose to stay straighter longer than 2 weeks.

U can put a gentle relaxer on ur hair or use rollers and keep then in for 8 hours then dampen ur brush and gently brush it out.tht should give u a gentle wave

I want wavy hair!!!!?

get a weave. If you get extensions put in, you might be able to have the wavy hair that you want.

I want wavy hair!!!!?

well it depends on how your hair is naturally. if it's super straight and thick, you're gonna have a hard time getting to hold any type of curl. if it's straight and thin, dpending on the texture, it may hold...but i just say good luck with that because it's gonna be tough.

okay, if it's curly, speaking form experience, you should use hot rollers....EASY and fast!! and you get great results. curly hair is much easier to "change." so i hope that answered your question.

Please help i got real long hair and nappy hair need hair types?

Please help i got real long hair and nappy hair and i need hair tips my hair is always in a pony tail and to add on to it my hair is dry and short in the front so i use bobby pins to keep it from coming out but it comes out anyway and when i get my hair done i get it straighten and it only last for about 3 weeks and i get purmes but it do not work. I want my hair to be smooth and not dry all the time i want to wear my hair out for a chance and not a nappy pony tail with hair sticking out please help me i need hair types i don't want to be talk about in high school.

I want my hair to look like this

smooth straight hair with bangs

Please help i got real long hair and nappy hair need hair types?

What type of moisturizers do you put on your hair? Do you deep condition your hair? Do a weekly condition along with your wash and once a month do a deep condition treatment. Also make sure that you trim your ends. Also whomever is straightening your hair, they may not know how to care for your hair type so try a different salon that knows how to take care of your hair texture. We have a unique hair texture and those who do not know how to tend to curly hair textures do not know how to style and do our hair. But if you want to do this at home, get a straightening balm and a liquid glosser. After you wash your hair put on the moisturizer, then put on the straightener. Use a ceramic flat iron and straighten your hair, and then afterwards put on the glosser to help smooth your hair and give you lots of shine and smooth your ends. But if you want a perm, try Precise by Ultra Sheen. This is a salon perm that has done wonders for my hair. If you get it, make sure you get the neutralizing shampoo that goes along with the perm mix.

Please help i got real long hair and nappy hair need hair types?

hey get a haircut and wear little makeup and make it a little short and get a manicure and get your hair washed

My long hair gets nappy and dosn't last when I straighten it! Should I cut it or condition it?

My hair gets tangles so easily! I want to cut it short, by my collerbone but Im so scared, my hair has been past my mid-back for my whole life!

If it condition it alot, can I straighten my short hair everyday?

My long hair gets nappy and dosn't last when I straighten it! Should I cut it or condition it?

If you think you are going to regret cutting it, then don't do it. It will take a long time to get it long again. Cutting it will help with tangles, etc. Try using 'Pantene pro-v' detangling spray. It works wonders on my hair. You can find it anywhere. If it doesn't last, try getting a new straightener? I use a sedu, and it works great. A chi works good too. Make sure to use a protection spray on your hair when using a straightener, so it won't damage it as much.

My long hair gets nappy and dosn't last when I straighten it! Should I cut it or condition it?

well if its to long, get a hair cut. But if its not that long then jus use lots of conditionaire. but you shouldnt straighten ur hair to much.. or else it'll dry up and it'll be like fake hair. (a weave) i myselft had long hair.. but no that long i get hair cuts in the summer. and then let it grow out. when i get hair cuts, i get it realy short.

My long hair gets nappy and dosn't last when I straighten it! Should I cut it or condition it?

if its been that long all you,r life its time for a change short hair if you get the style right is attractive

Nappy Hair Needs A good hot comb?

I need a really good hot comb because i have really nappy african -american hair i tried a lot of different hot combs do u know a goood hot comb that could tame this nappy african hair that i could find in a beauty supply store?

Nappy Hair Needs A good hot comb?

I still press my hair too...the best hot comb to use is one that you have to put on the stove...old school style. I don't know if you use an electric one or one that you have to put on the stove but if you really want to get your hair straight, then use the old school method. I do, however, recommend the Gold N Hot Professional Ceramic Hot Comb. I use that one when I need a quick touch up.

Nappy Hair Needs A good hot comb?

Have you ever tried just doing a relaxer ? It will last longer and you have plenty of choices. The hot comb will damage the hair more.

Nappy Hair Needs A good hot comb?

i wish i new the answer i permed my hair for the first time 1 day ago because i got tired of not finding the right products

Nappy Hair Needs A good hot comb?

why not try a relaxer?

Nappy Hair Needs A good hot comb?

Why not work with your hair and find styles that are easy to do without heat necessarily?

http://www.motowngirl.com

Nappy Hair Needs A good hot comb?

All hot combs works the same. It is the way you use it to make your hair really straight and stay straight. Never dry press it, always add an oil to your hair when pressing it out.

Questions about nappy hair?

im a black male, age 19, nappy hair ofcourse...now...i was wondering and i was looking at Jimi Hendrix Pics...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/totp2/features/wall...

now, this is going to sound like a stupid question..but..what type of hair does he have?...does he have some type of nappy hair or mix or somewhat..and one last question...how long does hair grow for every month?...cause i want to grow my hair like Jimi's

Questions about nappy hair?

Well, in that picture, it looks like his hair is just blown out a little bit with a blow dryer. Um...not a flattering picture, BTW. Black hair usually grows about a half an inch or so every 30-45 days. But it does not produce oils, like other ethnicity's do, so it curls up tighter and seems more dry. If you are looking to grow it long, I suggest corn rows or some other form of braids. It's a good neutral "resting position" for black hair, that allows it to grow faster, with less interruptions from you, since you aren't brushing it and styling it every day. Redo the braids once a week or so. Since your head doesn't get oily, once a week is plenty for washing your hair if you aren't doing strenuous work that makes you sweat a lot.

Also, to keep your hair soft, so it doesn't break off a lot, use a Good non oily conditioner for your hair and scalp, that will be absorbed, as opposed to hair grease, that just sits on top of the hair and skin. Carrot oil (available at beauty stores and in most large supermarket's beauty isles) is a really great one. Its light and smells good.

Questions about nappy hair?

IA Vix, except Black scalps DO produce oil/sebum, it just harder for it to fully reach the hair due to coils. How tightly hair curls has nothing to do with how much oil you produce, but with how 閳ユ競ent閳?a hair follicle is. Curly hair looks drier since coils reflect less light. See nappturality.com Report It

Questions about nappy hair?

his is just is nappy hair it looks like it may be soft though

i think hair grows half and inch each month but im not 100% sure

Nappy hair, how do i straighten it?

i have nappy hair, i just took some twist that i got put in about 2 weeks ago and i wanted to know the best way to straighten it

i already washed my hair with head %26amp; shoulder conditioner and my hair is well...nappy again. anyway i wanted to kno what should i do get a relaxer perm flat iron or is there something i can buy to straighten it, i dont really want to get a relaxer or perm or use a flat iron (im so picky %26gt;.%26lt;)anyway tell me wats best to use plz

thx u

Nappy hair, how do i straighten it?

I am a African American woman who has natural hair.

Really there is no way to really straighten your hair outside of using some kind of chemical (relaxer, or texturizer) or using a flat iron or pressing comb to get the desired results.

I heard about the Japenese straightning system but heard that it's really not for kinky hair (black hair), but I have never tried it for myself per I heard that it lasts for 6 months and breaks the outer layer of the hair strand down. To me that's almost as bad as a relaxer (my personal opinion).

What grade of hair do you have? 3c or 4a or 4b?

Maybe you should think about using a shampoo and conditioner that will make your hair manageable such as any of the IC products (www.fantasiahaircare.com) or Suave Sleek and Smooth which is a spin off of Matrix in the orange bottle.

Also, the summer is the most discouraging season for a black person with "natural hair". I suggest you wait till it gets cool outside and go visit a professional cosmotologist.

The flat iron is probaly the best way to go, but you have to know how to use it, so that it does not damage the hair (please do not do this yourself). But remember, don't make this a habit - probably consider doing this, no more than twice a month. Also, add a good deep conditioning once a month and put a satin cap on every night for good hair health. I know this is not the answer you hoped - but I hope you will take this advice, if you do find the right conditioner for your hair and go to a trusted cosmetologist, then I think you will be happy and you will have healthy hair.

I hope this helps you... Good Luck... : - )

Nappy hair, how do i straighten it?

Well you've pretty much covered your options except for blow drying it straight. Or you can get a texturizer, but that's kinda like a light relaxer.

Girl below me, we call that a flat wrap here :-)

Nappy hair, how do i straighten it?

i would reccomend a ceramic flat iron, but thats not the only way.... depending on the length of your hair, there are two things that you could do. if its short, you can use a dubie, i dont know if its called the same thing in english, but you wrap your hair around your head, add alot of oil and spritz if you want and go to bed.... wrap it in a bandana so it doesnt frizz... when you take it out in the morning, dont brush it, just add some more oil and use your hands to make a flat iron effect. you gotta wrap it tight though or it wont work.... if yr hair is longer than shoulder length, you can just add lots of oil and spritz, and like before, do the flat iron motion with your hands. i hope that helps!

Nappy hair, how do i straighten it?

wet your hair, apply a soft gel and wrap it around your head. Im being serious, you will wake up with straightened hair.

Nappy hair, how do i straighten it?

Hey, washing your hair with head and shoulders without conditioning it is not a good idea. I am sure that you have stripped it of any moisture and you need to put it back in. I use Cream of Nature conditioning shampoo, but others swear by Pantene. Go to the local beauty store that specializes in Black Hair care and they will be able to direct you.

As for straightening it, any of the above methods work but unless you take great care of it everyday and go to the salon at least every two weeks, you can really damage it.

Straightening it is great but when it rains or it gets humid well...you already know.

There is a product that I got once called a "caramel treatment" which made my hair manageable, not straight, until I washed it again.

My hair is currently "twisted" using Janet Afro Kinky Bulk "24 which has never damaged my hair at all. When I took it out after 2 1/2 years, my hair had gotten so long and I could not figure out what to do. Because of that I had major damage and after 2 years of mistreatment, I had to put them in again. The next time I remove them, I will have to go to the salon every 2 weeks.

"Twisted"

Nappy hair, how do i straighten it?

Ok, so I have naturally nappy hair too. Not to worry though, I don't tend to get my hair straightened offen only when it is time to get my ends trimmed. I don't think I will ever put a relaxer in my hair ever again but if you really want it to be really straight then I suggest you go to a salon like Fantastic Sam's or something, that way the can treat it before the put that much heat on your hair. If you don't want to go to a salon then the only thing you can really do is use a diffuse to blow dry it and comb it out as straight as you can. I really like wearing my hair out curly and I bought this stuff from Sally's that is the best for all types of hair textures. It is called Noodle Head and it is in an orange and purple bottle. For best results I use the shampoo and conditioner and the spray as well as the conditioning hairdress. While my hair is still wet I part it into small to medium sections and twist it. Depending on how much time I have, I either dry it using low on the blow dryer or let it air dry. Once my hair is dry I pull it apart with my hands and it comes out as a real textured fro, real curly and it has a lot of definition. You may wanna try that, I am sure it will come out great. Good Luck with the whole NAPtural look... Rock it!!!

Nappy hair, how do i straighten it?

what do you want to do w/ your hair? You don't have to relax your hair to make it straight unless you are looking for something permanent. I know you said you didn't really want to use a flat iron, but that's really the best way to straighten hair. To start w/ I would highly recommend that you use shampoo and conditioners for your hair type, that is the foundation for a beautiful hair do. If you are still indecisive go see a stylist.

Nappy hair, how do i straighten it?

Embrace your natural hair. Use S Curl, Surge Plus 14, Carefree Gold any good moisturizer and then oil it with wildhairgrowth, olive, almond, jojba, castor oil to seal in the moist.

Why are you using head and shoulders? Try a moisturizer shampoo and conditioner. Do deep conditioning with Olive Replenisher Pak. Your hair loves to be mositurized.

Wear braids, two strands twists, bantu, afro puffs.

If you don't want to use any of the items to straighten your hair then, hey stay natural.

Nappy hair, how do i straighten it?

Head and Shoulders is way to drying! I have been natural about three years and although hair dressers don't recommend it Pantene relaxed and natural has worked best. All soft by Redken worked well too. Oil on the scalp helps too. You can blow it straight. Leave straightening to pros until you watch and ask enough questions so your hair wont get stringy and dry and start breaking. Conditioning rinsing daily is a must. Never comb it dry. I also like Royal roots moisture glaze if, I can't get to the water. It works very well but I can't seem to find it too often anymore. So I made a concotion that works pretty well...after moistening the hair with water I mixed Nexxus humectruss, Moisturology Infuisium leave in and Botanical oil in my old royal roots bottle till it was sprayable and it worked just as good. no scientific measuring but it does work just as good. I have noticed deep conditioning treatments before trying to straighten hair work wonders! Sit under the dryer to get it all the way to the cuticle though, just wash and rinse in the shower won't cut it.

My hair is just nappy curly hair how do i turn it in to waves in my hair i'm african american?

You can try getting a texturizer, which LOOSENS your curl pattern.

I heard S-Curl is a good brand:

If you want other brands, try doing a search for texurizers for men.

Getting rid of nappy hair????

hello there,

i am a 17 white male. i am growing my hair out, but its still short. the top of my head has straight hair, the back of my head has straight hair... but the sides of my head have frizzy nappy hair! i really hate it cause it looks like i have velcro on my head. does anyone know how i can get rid of this nappy hair and make it straight??? once its a little bit longer my barber said she can chemically straighten but id rather not do it if i can make my nappy hair straight

thanks alot!!!

Getting rid of nappy hair????

Well there are some straightening shampoos. I wouldn't jump to get it chemically straightened, that burns like heck, and you probably have an extremely sensitive scalp, also, if any of the chemical straightener gets on your fine or straight hair and doesn't get washed immediately the hair will dissolve and fall out. Try some anti-frizz serum or hair oil. and then, if all of that doesn't work, go get it chemically straightened. But be warned, chemical straightening only works till your hair grows out, then you need to straighten it again, especially since your hair is so short.

Getting rid of nappy hair????

I rarely have nappy hair and the only way I get rid of nappy sides is cutting it. The reason I rarely have nappy hair is because I'm a Biracial. You can try to comb it on the way your waves are.

Is Nappy Hair 'Divine'?

Is it the choice of God?

Like Christ, 閳ユ窏is son閳?and all the founders of world religions, God Himself has kinky, nappy hair -according tot he Bible, where God or the 閳ユ穾ncient of Days閳?is described as having 閳ユ笁air like the pure wool.閳? (Dan. 7:9) The Power that causes galaxies to spiral, and planets %26amp; atoms to spin; that causes the double helix spiral of the DNA molecules -this same spiraling power causes spiraling hair... otherwise known as NAPPY, kinky, curly, frizzy, wavy, WOOLLY hair!

The words, SPIN, SPIRAL, and SPIRITUAL have common roots! The Supreme Power spins; spirals; it is spiritual. It moves or spirals the universe! The entire universe dances in spirals and rotations; everything in it reflects the 閳ユ藩PIRaling, SPIRitual閳?essence out of which it is made! The 閳ユ藩PIRal,閳?especially the Golden Spiral, is simultaneously the most profound motion and design in the universe -built into all life forms, from seashelss to man, to spiraling nappy hair!

Is Nappy Hair 'Divine'?

it is irrelevant what you say. God gave everyone the texture hair that he wanted them to have.. "nappy" is a derrogatory word and quite offensive to some.

Is Nappy Hair 'Divine'?

i see where youre going wit this %26amp; even tho im black, i don't believe that "nappy" hair is neccessarily "devine"

Any persons hair no matter the texture is "devine", for no MAN on EARTH, nor his/hers body parts or hair is devine, unless you're jesus, which we are NOT

nappy is deragatory.... Report It

First of all, WHY. #2, YOUR ARE NOT Flava Flav...... and finally C.... try dreadlocks...

How can I get my hair nappy and curly like a real black person?

You get your hair nappy and curly like a real black person BY BEING A REAL BLACK PERSON. Not all black people have nappy hair, and nappy curly hair is not needed for these styles. You got flavor like Flavor Flav but I guess you missed the part when he took Krazy and her family (white people with no nappy curly hair) to get cornrows. I have met white people with cornrows and dreadlocks. For the dread, start out with un-nappy twist; they eventually lock up. I think you should find something else to get into buddy cause there was entirely too much ignorance in that question.

How can I get my hair nappy and curly like a real black person?

Come back in the next life as a real black person, that should do it!

I have African American hair and it seems to have so much new growth in the 3rd week.?

Can I perm my hair that soon? It gets so nappy, and hard to maintain, so I get frustrated. What can i do to make the perm last longer. I'm on a budget and can't always go to the salon. I have short hair and i'm trying to grow it out long.

I have African American hair and it seems to have so much new growth in the 3rd week.?

my hair is the same way. typically i have found that a few things work during that time:

a wig-depends on how comfortable you feel with this option. not everyone likes them

get your hair braided-not in small braids but normal size so that your hair can rest

wear a pony tail-the bigger the better lol as the new growth will hide under it.

wear a bun-prices range from $3-50 and you can find any style that you want

get rods and curl your hair. i spray my hair with hawaiian silky dry look moisturizer, let it dry and then curl my hair. the style will last for weeks and you shouldnt have to comb it.

During this time I always use my favorite spray oil- i love Kemi Oyl, African Pride and Soft %26amp; Beautiful Botanticals to keep my scalp hydrated using only my fingers.

hopefully one of these will appeal to you but be careful with the braids-for some people their hair is not strong enough to handle it and the breakage can be fierce if you dont keep your hair moisturized.

I have African American hair and it seems to have so much new growth in the 3rd week.?

Dont retouch it yet its too soon and its going to weaken your hair. Your over processing it. Get a good trim thats the key to a HEALTHY lookn head of hair. dont be one of those trying to grow it people but god wisps of weak hair. You might just be better of wearing a more natural style and growing out ur perm.

I have African American hair and it seems to have so much new growth in the 3rd week.?

I would use another brand of relaxer. It sounds like your hair is underprocessed. And this time, try using a lye relaxer instead of a no-lye relaxer. My hair seems to revert faster when I use no-lye.

Texturizing Hair Instead of Relaxing?

Im black and japanese...my hair is really thick when it nappy and asain like when its straight...im about to cut my hair to the style that the recent winner of america's next top model had...Instead of relaxing my hair i was thinking to using a texturizer cause i want volume when i get my haircut. Will i texturizer effect that?

Texturizing Hair Instead of Relaxing?

i texturizer is just a mild relaxer that is kept on for a shorter period of time. it is used to loosen the curl a little and not completely straighten it.

How can i get my hair curly again?

I straightened my hair 2 years ago and now only my roots are curly but not the ends. I ve had to straighten it out daily. Now I dont have alot of hair like before. I started using extentions and it just seems that I have even less hair and its not curly but nappy. What can i do. Should I cut it short and just let it grow or stick with the extentions till it grows out?. The extentions are straight so I have to streghten my hair to fill the extentions. Help! I want my curly long hair back!!!!!!

How can i get my hair curly again?

when i peroxided my hair i took lots and lots of gelatin pill...like 10 in the morning and 10 at night....good thing its cheap...it grew out in 3 months.

How can i get my hair curly again?

Have you thought about getting a perm or a wave? I've also heard some people say that curling shampoo works too.

How can i get my hair curly again?

by straightening your hair, chemically or with a flat iron, you are actually changing the composition of the hair (remember, the long stuff is already dead!)

the only way to regain your curls is to cut it off and let it regrow or (oh, the damage!) perm it.

How can i get my hair curly again?

You should go to a good salon.

How can i get my hair curly again?

curling shampoo doesnt work AT ALL!!! its a waste of money. get a perm, but make sure you 100% want curly hair. sometimes the hair get too curly and u cant straighten it, and then theres the old ur hair gets to short when its curly!

How can i get my hair curly again?

I think you should do a perm or something. You could use those electric thingys. Couldn't you?

How can i get my hair curly again?

the healthiest option is to cut it short and let it grow down curly without you straightening it or take the unhealthy but quicker route and get a perm.

Why do african americans have nappy hair?

How do you grow african nappy hair?

This is one of the best sites I can recommend: http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/...

"Long Hair Care Forums is the ultimate Internet resource for women of color that want to grow healthy beautiful long hair."

Try not to blow-dry and flat-iron your hair too often. If you have to, try doin' one..like let your hair air-dry and then flat-iron it. Less heat is better!

Careful with the products you add to your hair. That's just causing build-up. Which reminds me...you should get a clarifying conditioner or any product that removes build-up. A homemade remedy is just the use of apple-cidar vinegar.

You need to keep your hair moisturized. So you need a moisturizer particularly water-based (look for a hair product with water/aqua as the first ingredient--such as ORS Olive Oil). Coconut milk, olive oil and honey are supposed to leave your hair shiny and smooth. However, not everything works for everyone. Baby your ends! Snip away the damaged ends. Trust me...my hair was almost waist-length but I hated how my ends were looking. It looked all crispy and fried...lol. It doesn't make sense leaving them...what you can do to save some length...is continued dusting--just trimming very slight amounts.

After moisturizing your hair, you should top it off with oil. I have Silk Elements Revive and Restore All-In-One root penetrating oil. Jojoba oil is supposed to be great too. The oil acts as a sealant...to keep the moisture in. Wild Growth Oil works well too.

After you wash your hair, you should add a leave-in and then moisturizer and oil or an oil moisturizer. Try not to brush your hair too much when its wet. Its most fragile at this time.

Many people like Keracare products...particularly their shampoo and conditioner. I am currently using a Creme of Nature shampoo. They don't contain Sodium Laureth Sulphate which is apparently a bit harsh for your hair.

Hair Mayonnaise is also a great product. Its good for when your hair is in need of protein. I don't recommend you use this product on a daily basis.

Kinikakes (one of the girl's from that site I recommended) says this: "Use what's in your kitchen. Add eggs or mayonaise (protein) honey, soft, ripe avocado, coconut, or olive oil (softness/silkiness/moisture), crushed garlic (prevents breakage), or cayenne pepper (stimulates growth) to your conditioning treatments for awesome, at-home special treatment!"

Drink lots of water too and watch what you eat. Milk, protein shakes and vitamins are advised. Biotin is excellent for hair growth. It should also be taken with B-Complex or some multi-vitamin. However, not everyone can stand to use Biotin for different reasons.

If you relax your hair, try and space out your relaxers...and use the mildest one.

You need to do protective styles...such as bunning. That way you hair won't be exposed to those harsh elements of weather (wind) and it won't rub against your clothes.

Scalp stimulation is also recommended. Massage your scalp frequently. When you're brushing your hair...try to bend over and brush from the back to the tip.

Good luck with the growing process and I wish you healthy hair!

How do I go from straight hair to nappy hair?

I am thinking of getting twisties with my natural hair, but I want to take out the relaxer I have in a safe way without breaking off my hair or making it brittle. Any suggestions???

How do I go from straight hair to nappy hair?

you can do this by letting your hair grow out without relaxing it, but make sure you keep it conditioned. when you are ready you will have to cut all the relaxed hair off. it can get frustrating but if it is what you want, go for it. i would say wash your hair once a week, deep condition it, let it air dry, use the least amount of heat on it as passable and wrap it to keep your ends from splitting until you cut the relaxed part off. also keep it moisturized.

How do I go from straight hair to nappy hair?

never heard of anyone ever wanting to do this

How do I go from straight hair to nappy hair?

perm it realllly tight

How do I go from straight hair to nappy hair?

PERM!!!

=)

How do I go from straight hair to nappy hair?

A relaxer is PERMANENT and putting a perm over a relaxer would leave you bald. The directions tell you never to do that. You have to grow out your relaxer and cut the straight part off when your ready. You could cut it off cut and wear a little fro for a while. I went natural by growing out my relaxer for a few months and the cuttting it off into a fro.

hope i helped

How do you make nappy hair straight?

go get a straitening iron maybe. you can get them at any department store or where ever you get your hair done.

How do you make nappy hair straight?

Well there is a permanent straightning solution they can use, so you will only have to return to the salon to touch up roots! I had an african american friend that got her hair done this way, and she loooves it! It looks great too! Another idea is to buy a ceramic straightner at home, but I find its often disappointing because its a lot easier and generally looks better when someone else does it! Ask your salon about the permanent straightning though! its pricey but so worth it!

How do you make nappy hair straight?

use a take home perm or relaxer

Why do black peopel have nappy hair?

my friend ivy is blcak..n most of my friends are..and i saw her real hair and i was wondering why do black peopel have such napppy hair?

Why do black peopel have nappy hair?

I don't actually know the biological reason besides it's plain and simple genetics. Some people have straight hair. Some have wavy hair. Some have curly hair. Some have thin hair. Some have thick hair. Some have course hair. Some have soft hair. Some have fine hair. Some have blonde hair. Some have brown hair. Some have black hair. Some have red hair.

I'm sure you get the point. It's just how it is. Why is your hair the way it is? Why is mine?

If you want to know reasons beyond that, try looking it up on the Internet, like through an encyclopedia site or something.

http://www.aaregistry.com/african_americ...

Why do black peopel have nappy hair?

That's is nature for black people have nappy hair ...

god made 'em that way

Why do black peopel have nappy hair?

cause god made up that way

Why do black peopel have nappy hair?

As we all know from Imus' comment,"nappy hair" is not a politcally correct term to use when referring to a black person's hair. I am not totally certain, but if you told your friend you thought her hair was nappy her feelings might be hurt or she might feel offended. The proper term would be coarse, thick, or textured. Black people may call each other nappy headed but it is not the same as when it comes from a person with straight hair. Some black people are really sensitive about there hair type, which is why people started to perm there hair. To answer your question though, black people hair is coarse and thicker because originally black people came from Africa, and in Africa the climate is very hot, with alot of sun. That is why black people have the hair we have and the skin color, it was kinda of a prerequisite to living in that area. A person with light skin and thin stringy hair, would be burned because of the intensity and duration of time the sun is in the sky, unless they use suntan lotion. So black people have that type of hair since they are from Africa. It is the way our hair is meant to be, and the way that we were created. All the best.

Why do black peopel have nappy hair?

That's an ignorant question and why would you want to know that?

Oh and for the record all black people don't have nappy hair.

Why do black peopel have nappy hair?

Thats just our hair texture. Every culture has their own hair type and this is ours. Im mixed and have long hair and its still hard to work with..

Why do black peopel have nappy hair?

Some black people have nappy hair due to genetics. But black people aren't the only ones with "coarse" hair, a large majority of Jewish people have nappy hair too. You should be careful how you word certain questions, some people may take offense. I'm black and I have naturally wavy hair and so do my children. It's all in the genes. Black people happen to have the most expansive characteristics of any people on the planet ranging from skin colors to hair textures.

Why do black peopel have nappy hair?

Our curl pattern is really tight or hair follicles so you get the what you called nappy.

Why do black peopel have nappy hair?

its just the way god made black people hair so we just have to live with it.

Why do people assume that NATURAL hair is NAPPY hair?

And why do people assume that NATURAL hair requires less maintenance? I've had natural (unprocessed hair) for two years now, and it takes as much maintenance (if not more at times) than processed hair. Why is it that society almost demonizes unpolluted tresses? Stop the ignorance.

Why do people assume that NATURAL hair is NAPPY hair?

Because they make money of of thinking our God -given hair is ugly and needed to be changed.

I also think Nappy and Natural are synonymous. I don't think nappy is a derogatory term.

Why do people assume that NATURAL hair is NAPPY hair?

because they have no commen sense, and one day the will realize its the best way to go.

Why do people assume that NATURAL hair is NAPPY hair?

I completely agree.. my sister wears her hair completely natural and it is very curly not NAPPY.and takes a very long time to get it washed blow dried and sometimes when she straightens it ..its just that people are use to associating natual hair with the term nappy and it just stuck...

Why do people assume that NATURAL hair is NAPPY hair?

Yeah, I really can't stand that because my hair is natural and whenever I press it people think I got a perm and they be like my hair don't look nappy enough to not have a perm. It's stupid!

Why do people assume that NATURAL hair is NAPPY hair?

People lack knowledge when it comes to natural hair, I wear my hair natural and I have to twist it or braid it every night.

What is the best shampoo and conditioner for VERY kinky, dry hair?

3 Steps to Healthy Hair %26amp; Hair Answers to Hair Questions

Shampooing Hair - When shampooing curly, wavy, coiled, kinky and nappy hair you should invest in a moisturizing shampoo. These hair types benefit immensely from moisturizing, gentle (non-toxic, nonchemical) hair cleansers

Concentrate on the scalp area to ensure the roots of the hair get very clean. Instead of rubbing the hair with the shampoo, work from the roots down to the ends, with a sliding motion making sure the shampoo has been distributed evenly.

Massage the scalp with the tips of your finger nails being careful not to scratch or cut the scalp with your nails. Repeat this process until you have completely covered the whole scalp area. Rinse the hair with warm water and repeat the process. It is important that you wash the hair with at least twice to get rid of any products that may have been on the hair. Rinse the hair three times to ensure you remove all dirt, shampoo etc from your hair.

Conditioning Hair - these hair types benefit immensely from high protein and deeply moisturizing conditioners and also conditioners that are rich and creamy.

Firstly apply the conditioner to the top of the head concentrating on letting the conditioner penetrate into the scalp. Then apply the conditioner to the ends and mid lengths of the hair. Don閳ユ獩 comb the hair as it will cause damage, instead use your hands to work through the hair.

If you have longer hair reverse the process and apply conditioner to the ends first.

Once you finished rinsing the hair, blot the hair dry with a clean towel. When you dry the hair with a towel, never rub vigorously in different directions. Let the towel follow the way your hair grows with a downward movement.

Repairing Damaged Hair

Once hair is damaged it will stay damaged unless you nurture it back to health (if it is reparable) or cut off the damaged parts. You can help to protect it and make it look healthier by putting protein and moisture back into the hair. To start the hair repairing process you need to choose a treatment conditioner that has plenty of proteins, moisturizers and nourishing nutrients.

Follow the same process, as when you would condition the hair normally. Once the treatment is on the hair cover it completely with a conditioning cap and leave it on the hair as instructed on the product label. Next, take the cap off and rinse treatment out of hair. NOTE: Make sure you apply enough conditioner/treatment to all of hair and even ends of hair.

Leave in Conditioners

Leave in conditioners are brilliant. They protect the hair from things like heat stylers and harsh weather conditions. Apply the leave in conditioner all over the hair concentrating on the ends of hair and near the root.

What type of Comb Should I use?

Curly, Wavy, Nappy %26amp; Kinky hair types should NOT use small tooth combs but they SHOULD use very large wide tooth combs with rounded ends NOT pointed ends as they can scratch the scalp. These hair types do best when combed with wide large tooth combs while the hair is moist, damp or wet--this will decrease the amount of hair that breaks off during combing.

My Hair Looks Dry What Can I Do?

Curly, Wavy, Nappy %26amp; Kinky hair is very often dry and needs to have lots of moisture put back into the hair. Treatment conditioners will help but they won閳ユ獩 completely solve the problem. Once the hair is dry pour a little oil into your hands and rub the hands together. Apply the oil to the ends and to the scalp. Because people with this hair type tend to have very dry scalp you can put a small amount of oil on your scalp.

Can I Use Heated Styling Tools On My Hair?

Yes of course you can. Just because you have this hair type doesn閳ユ獩 mean that you can閳ユ獩. The first rule is to make sure your hair has been protected either by a good leave in conditioner or treatment. Heat on the hair if used in small doses is fine but using heated hair tools everyday or every other day (or too often) is asking for trouble and can lead to dehydrated and damaged in addition to hair breakage.

How Do I Care for My Scalp?

Looking after your scalp is one of the most important things. These hair types can be very dry and have flaky scalps. The first rule is to make sure you don閳ユ獩 scratch the scalp with sharp objects, and the second rule is to make sure the scalp is cleaned regularly. Massage your scalp to help improve the blood flow and will stimulate hair growth.

Also make sure you clean your hair and scalp and apply a light nourishing moisturizer to your scalp.

The problem is my hair is EXTREMELY thick and coarse and I am tired of trying to tame it. What do you think of using a texturizer in this instance? I just want to be able to comb through my hair without sacrificing too much of my already scarce time. "I have learned a few helpful tips on grooming coily t very curly hair types that may be helpful to you. First, always comb your hair when it is wet or moist. Try to avoid combing it when it is dry as this tends to cause excess breakage and stress on coily and very curly hair types. Use a VERY Wide tooth comb and NOT a small tooth comb. After you wash and condition your hair dry it with a towel lightly. Some moisture will still be in your hair and this is good. Next Part your hair in 4 sections and apply your moisturizer (the Locs Coils Waves %26amp; Curls Moisturizer you purchased use this on roots to ends also apply the Aloe Vera Herbal Leave-In Treatment to your hair at this stage), then comb each section and braid each section. NOTE: you can separate each section into two or three other sections if you want to vary the wavy look that will result. Continue to repeat the above instructions until your head is braided into large braids. Let your hair air dry (or you can sit under a hair dryer) and then after it is completely dry unravel each braid. DON'T brush or comb your hair. Instead use your fingers and finger comb it and style it. The more you finger comb it the fuller it will get which is fine...do what you want to achieve the style you want. Try a french twist, tiny winy afro if your hair is short, pin up the front and let the back hang down etc. Be creative and have fun. Be mindful that you should not want to rush doing your hair, but instead set aside 30 minutes or whatever you feel is good to do your hair. Select a time of day and week when you are not as busy so you can relax and not be rushed. Also consider adding more minutes to pamper yourself -- do your nails, give yourself a facial or whatever you enjoy. Sometimes when people rush combing their hair they break off hair due to harsh treatment. REMEMBER: if you are new to wearing your hair natural OR not very knowledgeable understand that your hair needs to be trained. After your hair gets use to the routine it should become easier for you to handle. Give it one to four months and you should experience a bit more ease and time saved in your hair grooming. This simple technique can help coily to very curly hair types during the grooming process. You can spray your hair with the Aloe Vera Herbal Leave-In Treatment throughout the week as well." -- Mia Simone (Owner of Mia Simone's Boutique)

Do all texturizers break the hair or does it all vary from person to person? I have tried it all for the most part. But have learned that anything that alters the normal texture of your hair (whether significantly or mildly) is not healthy for the hair because chemicals or almost always used to do this and anytime you change the texture of your hair you can expect damage to the hair and/or a weaker state of hair. However, some people use texturizers and enjoy them. Personally I choose not to use any chemicals in my hair because I have experienced the negative side effects of what they can cause in both humid and dry climates. Consider people who wear acrylic or artificial nails. After wearing for a period of time the person's real nail becomes thin and weak. Whenever we alter ...especially when we do it using synthetics and chemicals.....what God originally gave us we can expect potential problems or potential negative side effects. -- Mia Simone (Owner of Mia Simone's Boutique)

Multiple Questions relating to hair texture change %26amp; hair thinning ...?

Hi, I am a 43-year-old female who previously has had fairly thick hair/normal texture. I started noticing last year that my hair felt finer and wispier which I am sure has been a gradual process and it just got to a point where I began to notice it. I have routinely gotten curly perms (I have shoulder length hair) approximately every 6 to 9 months for many years although they never seemed to affect the texture of my hair before and the hairdresser has always said my hair was in good condition before perming. At any rate, in 2001 I had a surgery with no complications (uterine resuspension) and in 2004 I had an endoscopic browlift (I know, probably a stupid idea). In this last year, in particular, I have noticed by hair texture has become drastically finer which is causing me so much anxiety it is almost unbearable. I have been to an MD who felt my adrenals were somewhat stressed (I am constantly on the go and average 5 to 6 hours of sleep at night) and my hormones (progesterone, estriadol etc) were extremely low as I am in perimenopause he says. He started me on bioidentical hormones (progesterone, etc) about 3 months ago. I also started taking hair vitamins about 3 months ago and have started adding more protein to my diet so that I get about 80 grams a day compared to about 40 to 50 grams prior (I exercise aerobically 6 times a week) and fish oil supplements. I have eaten mainly fresh and cooked vegetables for many years and have stayed away from processed foods and sugar and I am a slender build. My question is, how long before I will see a change in my hair? At this point, I can see absolutely nothing. It is shoulder length and very fine and when I touch it feels soft and fine;reminds me of soft hair on a baby's head. I still seem to have an adequate amount of hair, just fine. Will the hair that is already growing begin to have a better texture at the root as it continues to grow or does the improvement begin when the already fine hair falls out and then the follicle produces a new healthier strand of hair? If this is the case, I can see that this may take several months to a year or two since alot of the hair has this long of a growth cycle, and if this is the case, I will be patient and try not to worry so much, but if not, then possibly I am not on the right track. Also, can you recommend any of your hair care line that might help me out, too?

Mia Simone's Responses to the above question is in blue below.

My question is, how long before I will see a change in my hair? At this point, I can see absolutely nothing. It is shoulder length and very fine and when I touch it feels soft and fine;reminds me of soft hair on a baby's head. I still seem to have an adequate amount of hair, just fine. The time in which you see a change differs for each person and can be based on many factors (which may be the cause of your hair thinning and texture change) some of which are genetics, hormonal changes, lack of sufficient daily nutrients, stress, illness, medicine, chemicals in hair products such as perms, relaxers, hair dyes and color, dehydrated hair, etc. -- Mia Simone (Owner of Mia Simone's Boutique)

Will the hair that is already growing begin to have a better texture at the root as it continues to grow or does the improvement begin when the already fine hair falls out and then the follicle produces a new healthier strand of hair? It depends....it doesn't sound as if your hair is damaged beyond the point of no return; however you may see a change in the texture and thickness within time (possible one month or six months or longer ... everyone is different), provide you find the source of your problem and treat it correctly. In brief, if you don't know the source of your problem (which means you may [or may not] be able to treat the problem correctly) then your hair can continue to grow in the same way because the source of your problem wasn't identified therefore isn't being dealt with correctly. The source of the problem in my opinion can fall into two categories: (1) internal problem (diet, stress, deficient in certain vitamins %26amp; minerals, certain body functions not working properly, hormonal imbalance etc) OR (2) external problem (bad haircare habits, harsh products containing chemicals etc) -- Mia Simone (Owner of Mia Simone's Boutique)

Also, can you recommend any of your hair care line that might help me out, too? Yes. I am very much a believe in natural health and that is why I developed my own line of 100% natural body and hair care products. Below you will find my product recommendations AND natural health tips and recommendations. -- Mia Simone (Owner of Mia Simone's Boutique)

Product: Aloe Vera herbal Leave-In Treatment (#1 top seller with MANY healthy benefits...strengthens, nourishes, conditions %26amp; more)

Product: Set Style %26amp; Loc Conditioning Spray (will help to provide targeted conditioning %26amp; other benefits etc

Product: HOS-PV Ultra Hydrating Conditioning Treatment (if you have dry to extremely dry hair then use this)

Product: Shampoo Bars - choose the one you want from our wide selection. One particular type which will be a new type and available in the next week is called: Henna, Kukui Nut, Borage, Olive %26amp; Jojoba and it is a Luxury Gourmet Shampoo Bar would also be very beneficial for your situation.

Health: Because you indicated that you are in perimenopause then you may be experiencing some of the negative symptoms that come with the "change". However, you should see if your hormones are balanced...I believe you said that you have low progesterone levels--which would mean that you could be estrogen dominant and need to balance your estrogen and progesterone levels out. You can purchase natural progesterone from the health food store...it usually comes in a 2 oz jar and looks like a cr鐚玬e moisturizer. Get the type that has at least 500 mg of progesterone and use as instructed.

Health: Its good that you are trying to make sure your diet is healthy and that you are taking your essential fatty acids...specifically Omega 3 essential fatty acids since most Americans are deficient in this one. Continue to maintain and/or improve your diet and ensure you are taking a quality daily vitamin. Also consider having your doctor test you to see if you are deficient in any vitamins or minerals. I went to a Naturopathic doctor a year ago and she did a test on me and identified that I was lacking vitamin Z and I never knew it. Your on the right path with the fact that you are exercising that is good. Exercise helps the body relieve stress, enhances and helps body functions such as circulation etc.

Health: Reduce any unhealthy stress in your life if you have any. Stress is serious and can reveal itself in people in different ways. In the past I use to eat when bored or stressed and also years ago when I was under a lot of stress (sometimes under so much that I didn't even realize I was stressed), that I noticed that my hair quality was changing for the worse....hair began to fall out etc. The fact that at that time I was stressed AND using chemical based products didn't help my situation much with two negatives working against me.

Health: Consider buying fresh or dried/powdered Wheat Grass from the health food store and add some to a fresh fruit smoothie/beverage. You can make your own smoothies naturally and easily. Here is a easy recipe: 1 banana 1 cup of water or milk or soy milk, ice cubes. Blend in a blender pour in glass and enjoy. You can alter this basic recipe by adding or using different fruits. Today I had a banana %26amp; mango smoothie with a tablespoon of wheatgrass. Wheat grass has MANY MANY healthy benefits. This living food helps your entire body and for some it has even helped enhance hair growth and hair health. Hair Science

A strand of hair actually is made of three concentric layers: the medulla, cortex and cuticle. The medulla, the innermost layer, is not affected by hair care products or styling processes like chemical relaxers or heat straightening.

The cortex is the middle layer where pigment is located. Relaxers, texturizers, dyes and heat straightening all work by altering the chemical bonds of the cortex, either permanently, as with relaxers and hair color, or temporarily by blow drying or flat ironing.

The visible outer layer, the cuticle, is the layer that comes into contact with the environment. The cuticle is made of tiny overlapping scales that protect the cortex. When the cuticle is healthy, its scales lie flat, giving hair that smooth, shiny look. But when the cuticle and cortex get damaged, the scales stick out and problems like split-ends, dry hair and breakage can occur.

When it comes to hair type, people of African descent have hair strands that are thick at certain points, thin at others. This alternating pattern of thick and thin results in the characteristic curl of our hair. It also makes our hair fragile and prone to breakage at the thin points.

In terms of texture, African hair can range from fine and thin with a loose wave to coarse and thick with a tight corkscrew or spiral pattern. Coarse hair, which tends to look dry even if it's not, usually is porous, which means it quickly absorbs any moisture or chemicals exposed to it. Also, hair that is relaxed, straightened, or permanently dyed is more porous than natural hair.
