Why do blacks get madd if a someone says they have nappy hair?

isnt that like a white person becoming angry if someone were to say you have straight hair why do blacks look down upon their natural texture...and i know not all blacks have nappy hair i was in africa recently and the majority of them that i saw had wavy-curly hair and few had nappy so dont give me the not all blacks have nappy hair excuse i know that but the majority of blacks in america do thats for sure and let me put this in bold so noone gets offened THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH NAPPY HAIR I REPEAT NOTHING WRONG ITS GREAT LIKE OTHER TEXTURES IT HAS ITS HIGH POINTS AND LOW POINTS there now answer this question without idiocy and self pride please...

Why do blacks get madd if a someone says they have nappy hair?

Because the word nappy is rude.

It's the equivalent of someone walking up to an obese person and calling them fat or fatty. I doubt they would like it much.

Even worse, nappy is used to describe the hair of a black person who doesn't even have thick hair. So, to me it's a derogatory word.

i wasn't aware they did. stevie wonder had a hit singing about having nappy hair.

Why do blacks get madd if a someone says they have nappy hair?

This question was discussed last week, and Blacks do not get mad, they are confident enough to wear their hair the way they want, and give less than a damn what an idiot may say about their hair!!

That's how we do it!!!

Why do blacks get madd if a someone says they have nappy hair?

Lol, I agree there has been a negative connotation put to nappy hair that's why, but there is nothing wrong with nappy hair

I'm transitioning right now to get me some nappy hair :)

Why do blacks get madd if a someone says they have nappy hair?

I think some get mad because they're told nappy hair is bad and unattractive. But personally for me I don't care if someone calls my hair nappy, because that's how my hair is. My hair wasn't meant to be straight! I find it odd that some Black people hate having nappy hair but it seems to me that some whites find it fascinating and interesting especially the whole dreadlocks!

Why do blacks get madd if a someone says they have nappy hair?

Because thats what the slave-masters used to say "Nappy haired blacks" and they used to say "Dredlocks" because the locks the africans had were "dreadful". So even though I have permed hair.. its still thick and if someone comes up to me and says "You have nappy hair". I take it very offensive, instead of saying NAPPY cant you say "Kinky, thick, wavy". NAPPY sounds like a whole bunch of tangles and it looks disgusting.

Why do blacks get madd if a someone says they have nappy hair?

Because in a society where the standard of beauty is based on what is white, nappy doesn't fit in. People think they don't fit in if they have nappy hair. I agree that nothing is wrong with nappy hair and I'm upset that my parents relaxed my hair when I was in grade school without my permission!

Why do blacks get madd if a someone says they have nappy hair?

I've been natural for 5yrs, I cant go into a salon without getting dirty looks from stylists or without being asked repeatedly if I want a relaxer....the reason for this is b/c demand for natural black hair is low...many black women relaxer their hair simply b/c they dont know how to take care of their natural hair, hair care magazines, salons, hair products simply are not made for our natural hair...

this however doesnt mean that we dont love/like our hair...the main reason most black women would give u for relaxing their hair is manageability......this of course leaves other races to think that something is wrong or bad about our natural hair since black women themselves dont even want tpo deal with teir natural hair.

now dont get me wrong their are also plenty of women who really are just scared of their hair and that they wont be attractive to the opposite sex if their wore it natural...

this is changing however. u can look are commercials and magazines and see plenty of women with natural hair styles...now if only we could get black men to put these type of women in their hip hop vids, u'll see more black women going natural.

I don't get mad, I know that I have some naps I even had natural hair for about three years

Why do blacks get madd if a someone says they have nappy hair?

It's a cleanliness issue.
